General SummaryThe Sterile Processing Aide is responsible for transporting case carts and equipment throughout the hospital. Provide Stat and routine errand services to Operating Room, Sterile Processing, and ancillary departments.
Responsibilities- Transports case carts, supplies, custom packs and instrument trays between the Operating Room, SPD and throughout the hospital.
- Make routine rounds of Operating Room and Sterile Processing for return case carts and instrument trays.
- Perform routine rounds throughout the hospital, picking up instrument trays, scanning and returning them to the Sterile Processing Sterile Storage or decontamination area as appropriate.
- Verify daily tray requirements and delivery times for each clinic using an electronic instrument tracking system.
- Assist with stocking sterile tray inventory in clinics.
- Receive instrument orders; maintain records of distribution and receipt in instrument tracking software [SONAR].
- Breaks down and properly stores received supplies and instruments.
- Correctly and appropriately cares for and handles sterile instruments/supplies using aseptic techniques and universal precautions.
- Communicates effectively and in a timely manner to customers and demonstrates proper phone etiquette.
- Ensure productivity expectations and goals are met as established by management.
- All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
