$20.00 $ 25.00 per Hour

Job Summary

The Certified Peer Support Specialist will provide outreach and recovery support services to individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or mental health challenges within the community. This role focuses on engagement, peer support, advocacy, recovery guidance, and connecting individuals to treatment and community resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct outreach to individuals living in unhoused situations, including encampments, tent cities, wooded areas, under bridges, and other community locations.
  • Provide immediate support and guidance to individuals seeking recovery and mental health treatment services.
  • Engage individuals in conversations regarding treatment options, recovery programs, and available community resources.
  • Build rapport and establish trusting relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness and behavioral health challenges.
  • Deliver direct and indirect peer support services to clients and their families.
  • Provide emotional support, encouragement, and recovery-focused mentoring.
  • Assist with transportation and referrals to treatment programs and support services.
  • Support crisis intervention efforts as needed.
  • May administer Narcan and/or provide CPR assistance when appropriate and trained to do so.
  • Maintain documentation and communicate effectively with program staff and community partners.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must have lived experience with mental illness and/or addiction recovery and be willing to self-disclose lived experience for education, role modeling, and peer support purposes.
  • Peer Support Certification required or willingness to obtain certification within six months of hire.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented services and community resources.
  • Ability to work independently in community-based settings.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and recovery-focused approach to client engagement.
Additional Information
  • Onsite position.
  • Travel/driving is required.
  • Standard daytime schedule, Monday through Friday.
  • Position supports outreach and engagement efforts within the Mobile Bridge Program.
