General SummaryUnder minimal supervision is responsible for oversight of the efficient and accurate provision of medications according to established standards of practice. Coordinates technician-defined activities in the assigned area. Under the direction of the manager, assists in the supervision, scheduling, payroll maintenance, administration of disciplinary action, and evaluation of technical personnel. Participates in recruitment activities and decisions to hire or terminate. Coordinates training;
provides training/in-services in specialty areas. Initiates performance improvement activities to increase the scope and quality of pharmacy services and customer service. Performs the duties of a technician when required.
- Monitor work to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Assign activities to employees to meet schedule requirements.
- Ensure personnel follow departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with USP and medication labeling standards.
- Ensure hazardous products are stored, handled, and disposed of per policy.
- Confirm required documentation is completed and take corrective action as needed.
- Oversee ADS inventory and automated distribution cabinet usage.
- Schedule technical staff and manage time‑off requests.
- Conduct annual reviews and disciplinary actions (up to counseling and verbal warnings).
- Arrange coverage during callouts or special circumstances.
- Maintain payroll and attendance functions.
- Assist in recruitment and interview processes.
- Develop orientation and training schedules.
- Train staff on equipment use and maintenance.
- Coordinate certification and recertification of employees.
- Ensure annual competencies (e.g., Fire Safety, HIPAA) are completed.
- Monitor CPhT registrations.
- Develop customer service standards and monitor outcomes.
- Conduct staff meetings and publish minutes.
- Schedule Pharmacy Technician Students.
- Conduct pharmacy safety rounds.
- Report medication errors via variance reporting.
- Participate in Pharmacy Nursing Council and other meetings.
- Contribute to Pharmacy Performance Improvement Program.
- Ensure maintenance according to departmental standards.
- Demonstrate high accuracy and proficiency.
- Perform all additional responsibilities within the scope of the role.
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED - Credential(s):
Certified Pharmacy Technician - Experience:
Five (5) years pharmacy technician experience or one (1) year of supervisory experience and two years of pharmacy technician experience.

Associate Degree - Credential(s):
Certification related to the position, if applicable. - Experience:
Preferred – two years of management/supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
