Full Time (80 Hours) - Shift: Day/ Evening
- Salary Range: $16.98 - $25.48 per hour
Front Office Assistants greet patients, activate patient files, and move patients through a pre-determined schedule of appointments at a physician's office. They are the first line of communication between a patient and a doctor, whether it's on the phone or in person. They answer questions and provide general information or may direct a patient to a person who can provide the information.
Responsible for keeping, updating and maintaining records by getting the appropriate information from both patients and doctors.
- Performs front desk, receptionist and registration duties, while demonstrating the ability to maintain efficient patient flow.
- Assist the office in all aspects of the daily operation as needed including, but not limited to mentoring for Front Office Assistant I. Prepares the patient to the visit.
- Ensure timely, efficient, and accurate scheduling of surgery patients by completing patient registration process for surgical patients. Facilitate instructions for pre-surgery and day-of surgery to patients.
- Obtain insurance authorizations/referrals. Upon patient arrival, initiate proper forms for the medical and financial record. Obtain the patient and/or responsible parties’ signature where necessary. Collects payment for office visit.
- Registers patient in system. Demonstrates the ability to maintain proper medical records.
- Informs patients of practice policies regarding billing, insurance, workers compensation and charges.
- Schedules new patient and established patient follow-up appointments. Coordinates patient appointments with other specialists or departments as directed.
- Manages clinic schedules.
- Completes Real Time Eligibility (RTE).
- Maintains efficient filing and record maintenance system for required business, medical, and the Joint Commission (TJC) licenses/registrations. Follows all HIPAA requirements.
- Perform general clerical duties as required.
- Performs check out and end of day reconciliation functions.
- Keep informed of current insurance authorization/referral procedures.
- May be cross-trained to medical assistant functions.
- All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED - Credential(s):
None Required - Experience:
One-year clerical, office, and customer service experience in a healthcare environment;
Preferred: 2+ years clerical, office, and customer service experience in a healthcare environment

Associate Degree - Credential(s):
Certified Healthcare Administrative Professional
