Patient Care Coordinator / Physical Therapy Tech

M-F 8-4pm Overview

The Patient Care Coordinator / Physical Therapy Tech supports both administrative and clinical operations in an outpatient physical therapy environment. This hybrid role ensures a smooth, positive patient experience while assisting clinicians with treatment preparation, patient flow, and basic clinical tasks. The ideal candidate is organized, friendly, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, patient‑centered setting.

Key Responsibilities Patient Care Coordination
  • Greet patients, check them in/out, and provide excellent customer service
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, evaluations, and follow‑up visits
  • Verify insurance benefits, obtain authorizations, and communicate coverage details
  • Collect copays, process payments, and maintain accurate financial records
  • Answer phone calls, respond to messages, and route communication appropriately
  • Maintain organized patient records and ensure compliance with privacy standards
  • Support daily clinic operations, including managing patient flow and resolving scheduling conflicts
Physical Therapy Tech Duties
  • Prepare treatment areas and ensure equipment is clean, safe, and organized
  • Assist Physical Therapists with non‑clinical tasks such as setting up modalities, gathering equipment, and supporting patient transitions
  • Guide patients through basic exercises as directed by licensed clinicians
  • Monitor patient safety during sessions and communicate observations to the PT
  • Maintain clinic cleanliness, including treatment rooms, gym areas, and equipment
  • Restock supplies and support overall clinic readiness
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
  • Prior experience in healthcare, physical therapy, or customer service strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance verification and authorizations is a plus
  • Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy outpatient environment
  • Comfortable using electronic medical records (EMR) and basic computer applications
  • Professional, reliable, and committed to delivering an excellent patient experience
  • Ability to follow clinician direction and support safe patient care
  • Interest in rehabilitation, wellness, or healthcare fields
