This position is based at a hospital client site in Dover, DE and may require travel to other client facilities as needed. Mileage reimbursement is provided for approved business travel.
Job SummaryThe ED Hospital Representative supports PATHS' mission by assisting patients and families in securing appropriate health coverage and financial assistance while receiving care in Emergency Department and inpatient hospital settings. This role serves as a patient advocate, helping individuals navigate Medical Assistance programs, verify insurance coverage, obtain necessary documentation, and complete eligibility applications. The position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assist patients with applying for Medical Assistance in Emergency Department and inpatient hospital settings, both bedside and at designated workstations.
- Verify patient health insurance information and eligibility.
- Work with patients, family members, employers, financial institutions, and state or federal agencies to obtain required information and supporting documentation.
- Accurately document patient information and case activity in various systems.
- Complete administrative tasks including faxing, filing, emailing, scanning, and phone communications to facilitate application processing.
- Provide coverage at assigned hospital facilities and other client locations as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Meet established productivity, quality, and accuracy standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
