Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery (CHRIAS) is seeking compassionate and motivated individuals to become
Circulating Patient Service Representatives
for their Dover, DE location. The Circulating Patient Service Representative will provide exceptional and compassionate customer service to both new and existing patients that support the overall goal of achieving improved health outcomes. This role requires a personable individual who can effectively communicate with patients and coworkers, promoting a welcoming and efficient medical office environment. The representative will be adaptable, performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist both patients and medical providers at the Christiana Institute for Advanced Surgery (CHRIAS) in Newark, Wilmington, and Dover, DE.

Furthermore, the Circulating Patient Service Representative will approach their work with empathy and professionalism, collaborating with both patients and coworkers to ensure a compassionate, efficient, and effective healthcare experience, thus contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Essential Functions

A Circulating Patient Service Representative may be assigned / expected to perform one or more roles (Medical Assistant, Check In/Out, Call Center), and complete a variety of tasks in different capacities, in a single workday. All Circulating Patient Service Representative will be expected to:

  • Complete daily work assignments accurately, effectively and according to company policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with staff and healthcare professionals to ensure customer satisfaction and shared goals are achieved
  • Complete tasks as directed by a medical professional that support the patient's care and contribute to improved health results
  • Effectively navigate several different healthcare databases with ease
  • Maintain knowledge of multiple insurance companies' requirements including Medicaid and Medicare
  • Greet and check-in/out patients
  • Collect, process and reconcile patient's payments / balances
  • Perform telephone office administrative tasks
  • Schedule patients for follow-up appointments, surgical procedures, etc.
  • Efficiently and accurately verify patient demographics using an EMR
  • Perform pre and post office visit and health administrative duties: room, chart, and procedure preparation, maintain medical supply inventory, process referrals, verify insurance, and ensure related reports and labs are recorded in patient's EMR
  • Perform ancillary medical professional patient care needs as directed by provider
  • Complete tasks as directed by a medical professional that support the patient's care and contribute to improved health results
  • Support all UM and UMACO initiatives
  • Use, protect, and disclose patient's protected health information (PHI) in accordance with Health Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
  • Follow all United Medical policies, uphold professional standards, and perform work responsibilities in a manner that is respectful to others
  • Maintain consistent, reliable in-office attendance to foster a productive and collaborative work environment, enhance teamwork, ensure operational efficiency, and support client interactions
  • Perform other duties or projects as needed
Required

Education and Experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and databases
  • Computer and typing proficiency
  • Ability to collaborate and work as a team
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Certification
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Certification
  • Associates degree or higher
  • One to 5 years of experience in a clinical setting
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full-time 40-hour/week position working Monday-Friday
  • Shifts begin at 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM
  • Training is located in Newark, DE
  • This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including remaining on duty until all scheduled patients have been seen and the clinic has completed daily operations. Candidates must make arrangements in order to be available to remain on-site until the last patient has been seen each day.
