Principal responsibilities include overall strategic and technical leadership of world class technical teams in an Information Technology environment, which focuses on strategic innovation, enterprise technologies, infrastructure, security, policies and procedures. Position is responsible for providing leadership and expertise in the development, implementation and management of DTI’s initiatives in support of the agency’s goals, mission and vision. Position promotes leading-edge thinking and develops innovative and best practice IT strategies that are aligned with business and government practices.
Inspires and motivates staff by being a catalyst for visionary technology, creative problem solving, solution generation, implementation and teamwork.
Areas of responsibility include Delaware Government and K-12 networks including internet peering, firewalls, VPN, on-premise and cloud data center environments, enterprise phone support and associated critical network services. The Network Engineering team is responsible for engineering innovative, cost effective solutions that are consistent with evolving state agency and K-12 technology initiatives. The Director is responsible for coordinating support services and prioritizing agency and K-12 work with a focus on centralized delivery.
This senior level position is responsible for the full life cycle of enterprise-wide hardware and software solutions and will assist in formulating and administering policies and procedures, including implementing long-range goals and objectives. The position requires high expectations of accomplishment and extraordinary strategic business and industry knowledge, ambition, talent, and people skills.
This position will report to a Chief level Officer on the Senior Management team.
Selective RequirementSelective Requirements must be met in addition to the job requirements. Applicants who do not possess the selective requirement will not be qualified.
- A minimum of 8 years hands‑on expertise in managing the design, implementation and support of large‑scale enterprise or service provider networks.
Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.
- Hold a Cisco CCNA/JNCIA or equivalent level of certification.
- Experience with and knowledge of key hardware & software vendors – Arista, Ciena, Cisco, EMC, Fortinet, Juniper, Meraki, Microsoft, Red Hat, Splunk, VMware, etc.
- Experience in writing RFPs and negotiating multi‑million‑dollar contracts for products and services.
