Lead Technology Strategy for a growing Financial Services company!
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President of Information Technology (AVP of IT
) to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of our technology environment. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the security, reliability, and performance of the credit union's infrastructure, core banking systems, and member-facing technology platforms
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership experience in the Credit Union industry, including deep knowledge of the Jack Henry Symitar Episys core platform, IT service management best practices, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities:
Technology Infrastructure & Operations
- Oversee the design, maintenance, and availability of network infrastructure, cloud environments, and telecommunications systems across all branch locations
- Manage LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, cloud architecture, VoIP, and hosted telecom solutions
- Lead Help Desk and IT Operations teams, ensuring excellent internal service delivery and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs)
- Administer and optimize Microsoft 365, Azure/AWS cloud environments, virtualization platforms, and enterprise technology systems
Core Banking Systems
- Serve as the primary technology leader for the Jack Henry Symitar Episys core platform
- Oversee Power On scripting, system integrations, release management, and ongoing platform optimization
- Partner with business units to align technology initiatives with organizational goals and member needs
Information Security & Compliance
- Maintain a strong cybersecurity posture through effective management of firewalls, endpoint protection, identity management, vulnerability remediation, and security monitoring
- Lead incident response planning and execution for security threats and system disruptions
- Ensure compliance with NCUA regulations, GLBA, FFIEC guidelines, and internal audit requirements
- Oversee disaster recovery planning, business continuity testing, and high‑availability strategies
Leadership & Strategic Planning
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary IT team including Help Desk personnel, Systems Administrators, and Business Analysts
- Implement and maintain ITIL/ITSM best practices for change management, incident management, problem management, and service delivery
- Develop and execute multi‑year technology roadmaps aligned with organizational objectives
- Manage technology budgets, vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and technology investments
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and professional development
Qualifications Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
- Master's degree (MBA or MS in IT Management) preferred
- ITIL 4 Foundation Certification required
- Advanced ITIL certifications are highly desirable
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with the Jack Henry Symitar Episys platform
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing diverse IT
- Experience with in a Credit Union environment
- Proven success developing strategic technology plans and managing annual IT budgets exceeding $1 million
Technical Expertise
- Symitar Episys, Power On scripting, Synergy, OPCON, and Image
- Center.
Microsoft 365 administration - Azure and/or AWS cloud environments
- Fortinet and Cisco networking technologies
- SD‑WAN and managed service provider environments
- Hosted VoIP/PBX solutions
- SIEM platforms, MFA deployment, vulnerability management, and cybersecurity best practices
