The Associate Attorney will manage a portfolio of foreclosure matters from referral through post-sale, including contested litigation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of state foreclosure statutes and procedural rules, demonstrate sound legal judgment, and thrive in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment.
This position requires the ability to independently manage files while collaborating closely with firm leadership, paralegals, and support staff to ensure compliance with client guidelines and applicable laws.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Handle all aspects of residential foreclosure matters, including judicial and/or non-judicial proceedings (as applicable by state)
- Draft, review, and approve pleadings, motions, affidavits, notices, and related foreclosure documentation
- Attend and argue hearings, including contested matters
- Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations on complex or escalated files
- Ensure strict compliance with federal regulations, state statutes, court rules, and client-specific servicing guidelines
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding case status, risk assessment, and legal strategy
- Review title reports and address title-related issues impacting foreclosure proceedings
- Supervise and provide guidance to paralegals and legal support staff
- Maintain accurate case management documentation and meet all court and client deadlines
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active license and in good standing with the applicable State Bar
- Minimum of 5–7 years of substantive residential foreclosure experience
- Demonstrated courtroom experience, including contested hearings
- Strong knowledge of state foreclosure laws and creditor representation
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently
- Proficiency in case management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience representing mortgage servicers, lenders, or institutional creditors
- Familiarity with bankruptcy, loss mitigation, or eviction proceedings related to foreclosure matters
