Buyer II

Overview

We are seeking a Buyer to join the team at our new manufacturing facility in Sussex, WI. In this role, the Buyer II will purchase components and maintain communication with suppliers, working cross‑functionally on component issues, costing, invoicing, NMRs, receiving inspections, and ECOs.

• Execute standard purchasing processes and strategies, including procure‑to‑pay definition and optimization.
• Purchase at the most favorable price with quality, quantity, delivery, and other factors in mind.
• Participate in vendor source selection and determine acceptable price.
• Plan and maintain optimal inventory level using PFEP plans for each part.
• Manage supplier on‑time delivery performance, maintain system data integrity, and measure performance against key indicators (e.g., past‑due POs, open PO acknowledgments, PO expedites, non‑conforming material return cycle time, supplier invoice resolution).
• Identify, communicate, and resolve issues that delay material deliveries.
• Support strategies for supplier demand forecasting, capacity planning, inventory management, and replenishment.
• Recommend cost‑saving proposals including make‑versus‑buy analysis, alternative sourcing, step pricing for volume discounts, and vendor evaluation criteria.
• Requisition major purchased items and coordinate timely processing of parts finished outside the company.
• Establish working relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
• Coordinate ECO activities with suppliers and internal support functions.
• Work with Corporate Strategic Sourcing to identify key and preferred suppliers for key categories of spend.
• Act as SAP Super User within the assigned functional area.

• Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Three years of purchasing, planning, or related experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management.
• APICS certification.
• Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM).
• Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective contract negotiation skills.
• Strong project management and analytical skills.
• Ability to problem‑solve and manage shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk, and may need to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. The job includes frequent continuous computer‑based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
