Summary StatementThe Division of Historical & Cultural Affairs (HCA) seeks an innovative team manager to serve as the Engagement & Collections Manager (Cultural Conservation Program Manager). This role will provide leadership, vision, and support for the State of Delaware's historical and archaeological collections, working closely with Division leadership to promote professional standards and best practices for museums and manage collections in support of the Division’s mission, vision, and values.
EssentialFunctions
- Identify and prioritize opportunities to conserve Delaware's cultural history and resources.
- Plan, design, and direct graphic, spoken, and site research projects and investigations pertaining to historical and cultural methods and events.
- Develop interpretive and educational programs that convey knowledge of Delaware's cultural history and resources.
- Recruit and train research and interpretive volunteers.
- Train and supervise professional and support subordinates.
- Prepare and administer the program budget.
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree or higher in Cultural or Historical Studies or a related field.
- Six months of experience in cultural or historical research, including analyzing objects/artifacts and compiling documentary summaries for exhibits, programs, tours, historical sites, and artifacts.
- Three years of experience in cultural or historical project management, including planning, developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating projects to ensure objectives are met.
- Six months of experience in designing, developing, and implementing educational and interpretive programs.
- Six months of experience in budget management and control, including managing a budget within available appropriations and monitoring expenditures.
- Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through coursework, training, or supervisory experience, or supervising staff directly or through subordinate supervisors.
A writing sample will be requested at the time of interview.
Conditions of HireApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The State of Delaware Executive Branch participates in the Federal E‑Verify system and will provide the federal government with each new hire’s Form I‑9 information to confirm authorized employment. All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.
