Overview
Run and monitor equipment to safely produce high-quality food products. Production Machine Operators are responsible for operating machines within standard work, completing quality checks, and responding quickly to issues that could impact food safety, quality, or output.
Responsibilities- Operate production equipment safely and efficiently, following standard work and all safety/food safety requirements
- Perform start-up, changeover, and shutdown steps, including line checks and set-up verification
- Monitor machine performance and product flow; make adjustments within training/authorization to maintain quality and throughput
- Complete required quality checks and documentation (weights, seals, codes, temperatures, metal detection/X-ray checks as applicable)
- Identify, stop, and report conditions that could impact food safety, quality, or equipment safety, and escalate appropriately
- Troubleshoot common issues (jams, misfeeds, minor mechanical problems) and partner with Maintenance for more complex repairs
- Maintain housekeeping and follow cleaning/sanitation standards, including participation in cleaning schedules and pre-op/post-op requirements
- Support training and teamwork on the floor; communicate clearly with Leads, Supervisors, and support teams
- Use required systems/technology to document production activity, downtime reasons, and required checks
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate in English
- Basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Ability to learn and follow standard work, safety rules, and food safety/GMP requirements
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot
- Strong attention to detail and comfort completing required documentation
- Verbal and written communication, professionalism, teamwork
- Basic computer skills and time management
- Monday–Friday; hours may vary depending upon shift
- Overtime and weekend work may be required as needed
