The Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures. This role involves preparing the procedure room, assisting physicians, administering medications, monitoring patients, and responding to emergencies to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the procedure room by ensuring it is fully stocked and all equipment is set up properly
- Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures
- Administer oral and intravenous medications as prescribed
- Monitor patient vital signs, hemodynamic data, and electrical data continuously throughout procedures
- Assist physicians during catheterization, imaging, and other interventional procedures
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including performing CPR and defibrillation when necessary
quired Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in Cath Lab, EP, or Interventional Radiology (IR)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system
- Experience working in a Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) lab
- Experience in circulating, scrubbing, and recording during cardiac procedures
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – required
