Patient Care Registered Nurse RN - Med Surg

Location: Kent Campus Hospital

Status: Full Time, 72 Hours biweekly

Shift: Nights, 12-Hour shifts

Salary Range: $36.17 - $56.06 Hourly

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within the 16-bed Med Surg / Telemetry floor (3 West), ensuring quality and safety through specialized judgment and skill. The role supports continuous learning opportunities, including a nurse residency program for RNs with less than one year of experience.

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to the assigned patient population in an acute care setting.
• Develop patient-centered plans of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to determine best treatment decisions.
• Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrate quality, safe, and effective patient care.
• Delegate to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
• Practice nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork, and integrity.
• Execute quality and performance improvement plans (RN evaluation).
• Participate in decision making and act based on ethical principles (RN evaluation).
• Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• Perform all other duties as assigned within the scope of job responsibilities.

• Associate Degree Nursing or Nursing Diploma.
• Registered Nurse Basic Life Support.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) / Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe.
• Commitment to seeking specialty certification within the timeframe indicated during the interview.
