General Summary

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge, judgment and skill, are performed in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct professional nursing care to a specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
  • Develop a patient‑centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.
  • Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
  • Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
  • Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
  • Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
  • Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
  • Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
  • Demonstrate quality, safe and effective patient care.
  • Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
  • Demonstrate standards of excellence including practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
  • Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans (only for RN evaluation).
  • Participate in decision making and take actions based on ethical principles (only for RN evaluation).
  • Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience
  • Education:

    Nursing Diploma; must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program/university.
  • Credential(s):
    Registered Nurse;
    Basic Life Support; ACLS/PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe; commit to seeking specialty certification within timeframe as indicated during interview.
  • Experience:

    Required:

    Preferred experience in relevant specialty.

  • Education:

    Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
  • Credential(s):
    Certification related to the position, if applicable.
  • Experience:
