Dover Behavioral Health System is a 104-bed acute care psychiatric hospital located in Dover, Delaware.
The hospital offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs for adolescents and adults, and serves about 10,000 patients each year.
ResponsibilitiesThe Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is a key member of the leadership team and will integrate and coordinate a patient‑centric nursing strategy with focus on person‑centered care, ensuring high‑quality and cost‑effective health care consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Universal Health Services and with all regulatory requirements. The CNO participates in strategic planning and contributes to institutional goals. The role focuses on five key areas:
- People – creating an environment that supports employee development, teamwork and safe patient care.
- Service – building systems, processes and care standards that support delivery of patient care safely and fiscally sound.
- Quality – providing accessible, timely, efficient, cost‑effective care using evidence‑based practice and continuous improvement.

- Finance – supporting an environment of financial stability to achieve UHS mission and strategy.
- Psychiatric Nurse Residency Transition‑to‑Practice Orientation Program (could earn 20 CEUs)

- Current license or permit to practice nursing in Delaware.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a CCNE accredited program;
Master of Science in Nursing strongly preferred. - Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health nursing clinical practices and management.
- Extensive knowledge of nursing and patient care practices and principles.
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices; strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Three or more years of progressive nursing management experience.
- Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with proven leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment.
