GeneralSummary:
The Lead RN is a registered nurse who assumes accountability for assigned specialty surgical responsibilities related to the following tasks: supply and implant acquisition and inventory control; instrumentation; training and troubleshooting for equipment; maintaining surgeon preference cards and charges. They work collaboratively in the coordination of appropriate pre‑admission screening, pre, intra and post‑operative care with the surgical technologist specialists, registered nurses, charge nurses and other departments and physician office staff.
This individual works closely with specialty‑specific physicians and operation room staff to promote teamwork, excellent patient care, effectiveness and efficiency of operating room processes. Reviews upcoming surgical schedules for potential conflicts related to instrumentation, personnel, special equipment or ancillary services to efficiently manage resources. They actively participate in orientation and educational offerings with staff, therefore, requiring highly specialized knowledge, judgement and skills used in the Operating Room and in accordance to the Recommended Standards and Practices of AORN.
