General SummaryThe registered nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety.
Responsibilities- Provide direct, professional nursing care to the specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
- Develop a patient‑centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
- Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.
- Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
- Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
- Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
- Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
- Demonstrate quality, safe and effective patient care.
- Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and licensed practical nurses (LPN).
- Demonstrate standards of excellence including practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
- Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans (only for RN evaluation).
- Participate in decision making and take actions based on ethical principles (only for RN evaluation).
- Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
- Perform all other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
- Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing - Credential(s):
Registered Nurse, Basic Life Support - Experience:
None required; new graduates welcome.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing - Credential(s):
Certification related to the position, if applicable. - Experience:
Experience in relevant specialty.
