We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven R&D Chemist I to support the research, development, and testing of specialty cementitious products. This role focuses on formulation development, laboratory testing, and data-driven evaluation using established ASTM, ANSI, and ISO standards.

Position Overview

The R&D Chemist I supports the development and testing of cementitious formulations by executing laboratory experiments, documenting and analyzing data, and supporting product development projects. The role follows established test methods and procedures while contributing to data‑driven decisions that support product performance, quality, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and evaluate cementitious ceramic tile adhesive formulations to meet defined performance targets
  • Conduct laboratory testing using ASTM, ANSI, and ISO methods
  • Accurately document test data, analyze results, and communicate findings
  • Follow established laboratory procedures and standards of practice
  • Prioritize and plan daily laboratory activities in alignment with production schedules and material availability
  • Identify deviations from standards and communicate significant findings or concerns
  • Collaborate with R&D, Production, Warehouse, Suppliers, and Management to resolve quality‑related issues
  • Support quality control testing and additional R&D activities as assigned
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment
  • Stay current on industry standards, testing methods, and material developments
Qualifications / Experience / Competencies

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific field
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a laboratory environment
  • Strong understanding of the scientific method and problem‑solving techniques
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret technical data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting

Preferred Knowledge:

  • TSCA and related reporting requirements (CDR, polymer exemptions)
  • SDS interpretation and U.S. GHS / HCS 2012 standards
  • HMIS / NFPA ratings and DOT hazardous materials classifications
