Business Development Manager (BDM) – Primary PurposeThe BDM is responsible for growing business by finding new opportunities, researching leads, establishing strategic relationships with potential clients and partners. In this critical role, the BDM stays on top of market trends in an active pursuit of expanding into new territories and trains our teams on new products using best‑in‑class sales techniques.
Responsibilities- Design and direct sales strategies for business group products in assigned territories.
- Create and implement processes and training to ensure the sales team is equipped to sell products effectively.
- Collaborate with the VP of Sales and other stakeholders to expand the territory and product lines.
- Perform analysis of specific customers to determine the most effective solutions for their needs.
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans focused on new revenue generation and expanding business in new areas by researching prospective accounts in targeted markets, pursuing leads, and following through to a successful agreement.
- Negotiate and close contracts.
- Grow revenue in assigned industry verticals and achieve gross margin targets.
- Direct placement of new and existing products and programs with prospective customers.
- Direct involvement of cross‑functional personnel within business groups to meet performance objectives and customer expectations.
- Drive customer service execution to ensure issue resolution.
- Analyze the current business environment to implement new strategies for customer service.
- Facilitate introductions to other sales executives.
- Develop and recommend accurate and detailed metrics for effective financial forecasting and resource allocation.
- Forecast, develop, manage, and achieve budgets.
- Analyze and review sales trends to identify opportunities and threats.
- Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs.
- Maintain a strong understanding of company products, competition in the market, and positioning.
- Follow the latest industry developments and stay up to date on corporate competitors.
- Promote company products/services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. - Work Experience:
2 to 5 years of sales experience. - Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent preparation of sales materials and presentation skills.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial culture.
- Ability to analyze financials.
- Knowledge of internal processes and systems that support sales accounts.
- Ability to develop a strong understanding of company products, market competition and positioning.
Office environment (includes field sales). The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, use hands to manipulate objects or controls, stand and walk, occasionally stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders, and lift up to 25 pounds. Requires frequent computer use, sitting, and close vision. Occasional travel.
