Job Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring the maintenance of the buildings and grounds at Fort Delaware State Park, the designated trails at Fort DuPont and designated structures and grounds in Port Penn. The role requires advanced-level experience in all trades fields including HVAC maintenance, plumbing, equipment repair, and general carpentry, with responsibilities on multiple restroom facilities and around water. Applicants must be available to work weekends, holidays, and around boats and water.
Responsibilities- Perform preventative routine and complex maintenance repairs on interior and exterior building structures, fixtures, bridges, heavy duty structural and mechanical equipment, HVAC systems, and other systems.
- Perform restoration and renovation on facilities and bridges, including historical buildings; build partitions, shelving, renovate furniture, and design layout for efficient use of space.
- Recommend referral of jobs beyond financial or capability limits to private contractors.
- Maintain and repair compressors, pumps, hydraulic lifts, treatment and disposal plants, and operate HVAC systems and complex plumbing projects.
- Operate and maintain life safety devices such as sprinkler systems.
- May oversee skilled, semi-skilled maintenance, and laboring personnel during specific assignments or in a training situation.
- Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on assignments; secure materials and supplies through established procedures.
- May perform highway lighting or drawbridge maintenance.
- Six months experience operating and maintaining a variety of equipment, hand and power tools used in trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, or HVAC.
- Six months experience performing work in these trades fields.
- Six months experience in record keeping.
- Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics, or technical drawings.
- Knowledge of estimating cost, time, and materials for projects.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
