Position: County Caseworker 1 (Local Government) - Delaware County C&Y (Eddystone)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on providing direct support to families through assessments, case management, and guidance in daily life needs. It is an entry‑level role with strong supervision and training to help you grow in the field. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Direct Service:
    Conduct assessments, manage cases, and guide families toward needed support
  • Home Visits:
    Meet with children and families in their homes or community settings
  • Family Support:
    Provide counseling and assistance in areas like parenting, budgeting, and daily living skills
  • Child Placement:
    Coordinate placement of children into foster homes when necessary
  • Service Coordination:
    Make referrals and advocate for families to increase the effectiveness of services
Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full‑time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
  • Telework:
    This position may be eligible to telework part time after the first six (6) months of employment. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. To telework, you must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Eddystone, PA.

    The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum experience and training requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case‑management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
