The Environmental Justice Office at DNREC is seeking a Community Assistance Provider to support outreach and community capacity building in Kent and Sussex Counties. This is primarily a field position that will document neighborhood-based community institutions such as houses of worship, social service organizations, and small businesses. The Community Assistance Provider will identify and attend recurring community meetings, participate in neighborhood-based community events, and support the department’s meaningful engagement efforts.
The position will also support EJO evaluation and coordination for the Community Environmental Project Fund.
Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.
- Experience in oral and written proficiency in Spanish and/or Haitian.
- Creates formatted documents, generates and shares presentations, develops and manages spreadsheets, and maintains information in databases.
- Assist in the development and posting of materials to social media sites.
- Coordinates timely and accurate responses and information to citizens, community groups or governmental agencies.
- Reviews, processes, and evaluates information for completeness, accuracy, and conformity with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Resolves discrepancies, deficiencies in information, or other issues.
- Coordinates and conducts public meetings, media events or educational programs.
- Evaluates and recommends agency events, programs and services to meet community needs.
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude and have fun.
