Summary Statement

Principal responsibilities include the planning, requirements, design, coding, testing, debugging, system integration, and documenting of software components of complex, multi-tier government systems. Responsible for evaluating user requests for new programs, modifications to existing programs, and system integration of off the shelf products. Performs research and gathers relevant data to determine feasibility, appropriateness, and cost and time required. Prepares detailed estimates in order to obtain approval to proceed.

Prepares detailed program specifications. Develops software according to approved specifications, tests and debug programs for the delivery of quality applications. Creates system and user documentation. Monitors ongoing program and system performance. Provides training and mentors less experienced team members. The Sr. Software Engineer must be a fast learner with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and able to work with minimal supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The Sr. Software Engineer must be able to work well with a diverse group of team members to deliver software solutions on time, on budget and within specifications. This Position must be able to provide code review, supervision, and technical guidance to skilled developers within the team. The Sr. Software Engineer will report to the Application Development Manager responsible for the particular application area.

Applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED.

Possession of a bachelor’s degree is preferred, with emphasis in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Networks, Security, I/T Discipline or a related field. Possess professional certifications commensurate with advanced to expert technical capabilities.

Job Requirements for Sr. Software Engineer Java

• Possess a minimum of 2 years' experience supervising a team of technical developers. This includes local and remote teams.
• Possess a minimum of 4 years’ experience in developing large scale public facing dynamic Java web applications (Java SDK, Java EE), with specific experience in the complete software development lifecycle.
• Possess a minimum of 4 years’ experience in web application security standards and best practices for developing secure web applications.
• Possess a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the maintenance, configuration, and security of; applications, databases, SOAP, REST, API and other Middleware.
• Possess a minimum of 4 years' experience developing Spring Boot and Angular Java Web applications.
• Possess a minimum of 4 years' experience in IT industry standards and best practices for systems and software development.
