Position Summary

Seaward Services, Inc seeks experienced Ordinary Seafarers to serve on the deck crew for our new Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV), which will service wind turbines off the New England and Mid-Atlantic coasts. Your primary areas of operation may be the waters in and around the mid-Atlantic states area, where you will transport crew, equipment, and cargo to turbines throughout the wind farm.

Under the direction of the Captain and Deck Officer, you will assist with a variety of tasks, including: transfer of personnel to turbines, mooring operations, ship's maintenance, engine rounds, and aiding in navigation of the vessel.

Dynamic and variable operating environments will require a certified and focused Ordinary Seaman who will demonstrate sound judgment and exercise caution during all ship evolutions. As a member of the crew, you will prioritize safety above all else and help establish a working environment that reflects this value.

Additionally, your commitment to good seamanship, attentiveness, and eagerness to learn will contribute to a productive, safe, and cooperative workplace for all crew. As a deck crew member, you will strive to act in a manner onboard that reflects company values and codes of conduct.

Vessels have a 4 week on/off rotation, with rotations possibly varying in length depending on crew levels and need.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Handle mooring lines during docking or undocking of the vessel
  • Assist with filling potable water, bunkering, discharging black/grey water and connect / disconnect shore power as directed
  • Perform operational duties as instructed by the Captain or Deck Officer
  • Conduct at sea personnel transfer and cargo operations in all weather conditions
  • Perform lookout duties while underway in accordance with Rule 5 of COLGREGs contract requirements, and company policy
  • Assist in all alongside and underway cargo evolutions
  • Perform cleaning and custodial tasks of the vessels and property, including maintenance tasks as
  • Conduct basic engineering repairs and rounds as directed.
  • Seek the highest levels of quality and professionalism.
  • Assist with training of new crew as directed.
  • Assist the Master in ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Assist the Master in maintaining vessel integrity to support safety and a consistent state of operational readiness
  • Monitor passenger & crew member safety issues on the boat.
  • Ensure that safety equipment is utilized, and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials
  • Participate in meetings, training, drills, and safety audits as required by USCG & company policy
  • Develop understanding of all phases of shipboard safety procedures and knowledge of location and use of all firefighting and safety equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers, fire stations, life preservers, work vest, and life floats)
  • Use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Handle and dispose of all chemicals and other types of hazardous or caustic materials in compliance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) (as required).
  • Report safety, operational, and environmental issues to your direct supervisor immediately.

Requirements and Qualilfications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Residence in mid-Atlantic states from Western CT to DE preferred
  • United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner’s Credential (MMC) with an Ordinary Seaman (or higher) endorsement
  • Valid United States Passport
  • Valid STCW Basic Safety Training (Vi/1)
  • Valid STCW seafarer with designated security duties (Vi/6)
  • Valid TWIC card Valid Driver’s License
  • Offshore Wind – Crew Transfer Vessel experience preferred
  • Excellent career record, showing professionalism, and drive.
  • Rigging experience preferred
  • Engine room experience preferred
  • Perform lookout duties while underway in accordance with Rule 5 of COLGREGs contract requirements, and company policy
