Location: Dover, NH (Seacoast NH job sites | field-based role)

J.R. Heald Builders is a family-owned residential builder and remodeler serving New Hampshire's Seacoast. We are growing intentionally and building structure into our production team so projects run smoothly, clients feel cared for and our field teams have strong leadership and support.

The Project Manager is the day-to-day driver of production. You are in the field approximately 40% of the time supporting Site Supervisors, crews, and subcontractors, and 60% in the office coordinating systems, job costing, and planning. You are responsible for keeping projects on track for quality, schedule, budget, safety, and communication, while developing the field team and improving how we operate.

You report to the Production Manager and directly manage Site Supervisors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee active projects from preconstruction handoff through completion
  • Participate in preconstruction reviews to identify scope, production, or budget risks before contracts are finalized
  • Lead project kickoff/turnover meetings with clients and the internal team
  • Conduct frequent jobsite visits to ensure quality, safety, cleanliness, and progress
  • Manage field crew and subcontractor scheduling with a rolling 3-week lookahead
  • Monitor job costs with the Production Manager and Controller; provide regular cost updates
  • Ensure timely communication and processing of Change Orders
  • Coordinate permits, short-lead materials, and equipment needs
  • Provide clear project milestone updates to clients, trades, and suppliers
  • Support Site Supervisors through coaching, accountability, and skills development
  • Evaluate field staff and subs; participate in performance reviews and growth plans
  • Submit receipts/bills/invoices per process for accurate job costing
  • Participate in Project Debriefs and continuous process improvement

Qualifications
  • Experience managing residential construction projects (remodeling/additions preferred)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, delegate, and hold others accountable respectfully
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills across multiple jobs
  • Calm, logical problem-solver who anticipates issues early
  • Comfortable with job costing, budgets, and documentation
  • Strong communication skills with clients, trades, and the internal team
  • Tech-comfortable (spreadsheets, construction software, mobile communication)
  • Valid driver's license, clean MVR, and reliable personal vehicle
  • Smartphone with camera, text, and web capability
Pay & Benefits
  • Full-time, W-2 Employment
  • Pay: $80,000 to $95,000 (based on experience)
