BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN (Position #21671)
Salary: $22.50/hour – $30.02/hour (Trainee status: $21.63/hour)
SummaryResponsible for implementing and scheduling all bridge maintenance operations in a designated area and supervising a crew in construction and repair projects.

Minimum Qualifications- Education/
Experience:
Equivalent combination of 4 years of education and experience after high‑school graduation. Must have at least two years supervising groups in bridge construction and maintenance.
- Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License A or B (CDL‑A or CDL‑B) with tank endorsement and air brakes.
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the hiring agency’s minimum standards.
- Must receive a negative result on a pre‑employment urinalysis drug screen in compliance with federal regulations and DOT requirements.
- Must have the ability to climb and work from scaffolds high above ground or water.
- Must be willing to work throughout the State and during emergencies for long hours, 7 days a week.
Candidates with an equivalent combination of 3+ years of relevant education and experience after high‑school may be considered for trainee status and hired in this position.
Preferred Qualifications- Knowledge of modern methods used in bridge construction and maintenance.
- Skill in the use of bridge construction tools and equipment.
- Ability to place, layout and supervise workers engaged in bridge work.
- Ability to work outdoors for long periods under varying climatic conditions.
- Ability to climb and work from scaffolds high above ground.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with the motoring public, landowners along the highway right‑of‑way, and employees.
- Demonstrated agility, mechanical ability, resourcefulness, initiative, and sound judgment.
- Willingness to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Candidates holding a valid Operators or CDL‑B license must obtain a CDL‑A license within 1 year.
- Employment is conditional upon obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License medical card unless the candidate is already employed by the State of New Hampshire.

Plans, directs, evaluates, and assists a crew of workers engaged in construction, maintenance, safety and security inspections, and painting of bridges; supervises and trains subordinators in all phases of bridge construction; plans receipt and distribution of construction materials; coordinates and implements bridge projects as directed by the Bridge Construction Superintendent; assumes independent responsibility for projects in his or her absence; directs complex work zone traffic‑control procedures;
prepares computerized and written reports for payroll, equipment usage, material requests, personnel evaluations, health and safety requirements, and project progress; supervises crew safety requirements consistent with DOT safety manual; coordinates hiring and utilization of contracted and state‑owned equipment; controls hazardous materials handling and documentation; oversees operations in wetland areas.
- Salary: $22.50-$30.02 per hour (trainee status: $21.63).
