Position: 27-001 Police Accreditation Coordinator, Part-Time

The Accreditation Coordinator is a civilian position assigned to the Professional Standards Unit. The Accreditation Coordinator is responsible for organizing, managing, and maintaining the police department’s accreditation program(s) to ensure ongoing compliance with the accreditation standards. The position is 24 hour per week, non‑exempt, paid $31.28 to $45.30 per hour, and is open until filled.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Organize, manage, and maintain compliance with accreditation standards established by CALEA.
  • Monitor updates, best practices, and emerging trends related to accreditation standards and ensure timely implementation.
  • Prepare, update, and submit all required reports, documentation, and proofs of compliance in accordance with accreditation requirements.
  • Assist in the review and revision of departmental policies and procedures to ensure alignment with current accreditation standards.
  • Serve as a liaison to external law enforcement agencies and organizations involved in the accreditation process.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic files and documentation supporting compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Coordinate and prepare the department for accreditation assessments and re‑accreditation processes, including serving as the primary point of contact during assessments.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with sworn and civilian personnel.
    • Proficiency in computer systems and software necessary to perform documentation, reporting, and data management functions.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex documentation and maintain organized records, while working collaboratively under supervision and maintaining initiative and accountability.
    • Working knowledge of public safety operations, culture, and procedures.
    • Willingness to pursue ongoing training and professional growth while supporting the missions, values, and goals of the Dover Police Department.
    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Minimum requirements:

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Valid driver’s license.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
    • Experience or familiarity with modern law enforcement principles, practices, policies, and applicable laws.
    • Experience with accreditation processes or standards (e.g., CALEA or similar programs).
    • Proficiency with accreditation management systems such as PowerDMS.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
    • Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify improvements and implement effective solutions.
