The Accreditation Coordinator is a civilian position assigned to the Professional Standards Unit. The Accreditation Coordinator is responsible for organizing, managing, and maintaining the police department’s accreditation program(s) to ensure ongoing compliance with the accreditation standards. The position is 24 hour per week, non‑exempt, paid $31.28 to $45.30 per hour, and is open until filled.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with sworn and civilian personnel.
- Proficiency in computer systems and software necessary to perform documentation, reporting, and data management functions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex documentation and maintain organized records, while working collaboratively under supervision and maintaining initiative and accountability.
- Working knowledge of public safety operations, culture, and procedures.
- Willingness to pursue ongoing training and professional growth while supporting the missions, values, and goals of the Dover Police Department.
Minimum requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
- Experience or familiarity with modern law enforcement principles, practices, policies, and applicable laws.
- Experience with accreditation processes or standards (e.g., CALEA or similar programs).
- Proficiency with accreditation management systems such as PowerDMS.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify improvements and implement effective solutions.
