Overview

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Autonomic Lab Neurodiagnostic Technologist to join our Neurology team! The operating hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm.

The Autonomic Technician role requires a strong clinical background, ideally with experience in neurodiagnostics such as EEG, EMG, sleep technology, or related autonomic testing. This position is primarily focused on autonomic testing (approximately 80%), with some EMG testing (about 20%).

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and educate patients prior to testing
  • Conduct autonomic and EMG tests (autonomic studies lasting up to two hours)
  • Monitor blood pressure and heart rate
  • Place electrodes, stocking and maintaining testing rooms, and manage supplies and inventory
  • Training will take place in Portsmouth, where autonomic testing is currently based, with the ideal candidate able to support both Portsmouth and Dover locations as needed
  • Provide a provider is always on site during testing, and the technician will work alongside nursing staff and another experienced technician
  • Measure heart rate and blood pressure during various controlled stimuli (deep breathing, active standing, passive head-up tilting on a tilt-table)
  • Perform sympathetic skin response test to evaluate and record galvanic skin response
  • Prepare patients for all autonomic testing in the lab and explain what to expect
  • Organize data into a report after exams
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Experience in lieu of

  • Licenses and

    Certifications:

    Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist [R. EEG T.] – ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing & Accreditation preferred

  • Can perform accurate EKG tracings
  • Excellent patient interactive skills
  • Can recognize life threatening arrhythmias
  • Can recognize EKG artifact
  • Can enter data quickly and accurately
  • Can measure blood pressure
