The Junior Buyer plays a critical role in supporting the procurement process by assisting in the acquisition of goods and services that meet the company’s quality, cost, and delivery requirements. This position involves collaborating closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely and efficient purchasing activities. The Junior Buyer will analyze market trends and supplier performance to contribute to strategic sourcing decisions.

They will also help maintain accurate purchasing records and assist in negotiating terms to optimize value. Ultimately, this role ensures that the supply chain operates smoothly, supporting overall business objectives and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
    Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding of procurement and supply chain principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with procurement or purchasing software (e.g., Oracle, or similar ERP systems).
  • Internship or prior experience in a buying or procurement role.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and logistics.
  • Familiarity with contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
  • Analytical skills to interpret market data and supplier performance metrics.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in sourcing and purchasing materials, products, and services according to company requirements.
  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate prices, and confirm order details.
  • Monitor purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any discrepancies or delays.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information in procurement systems.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as inventory, finance, and operations to align purchasing activities with business needs.
  • Support supplier evaluation and performance tracking to help identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in preparing reports and analysis related to purchasing activities and market trends.
Skills:

The Junior Buyer uses strong communication skills daily to interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective exchanges of information. Analytical skills are applied to evaluate supplier quotes, market trends, and purchasing data to support cost-effective decisions. Organizational skills are essential for managing multiple purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining accurate records. Proficiency with procurement software and Microsoft Excel enables efficient processing and reporting of purchasing activities.

Additionally, negotiation skills help in securing favorable terms and building positive supplier relationships that benefit the company.
