The Strafford Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) is recruiting for an Executive Director.
SEDC is an independent non-profit corporation specializing in providing and locating financial assistance for businesses in areas of southeastern New Hampshire. Our mission is to support projects that create new jobs or secure existing jobs. We serve as a central point of contact for connecting businesses with municipal, state, and federal agencies, other non-profits, banks, and investors. More information about SEDC is found cnh.org.
The current Executive Director is retiring after several decades with SEDC, having organized a team that has placed SEDC in a position for long-term success.
The Executive Director is responsible for the development and delivery of programs and services of both a short and long-range nature designed to increase the economic vitality of the Strafford County region and beyond. This includes working in cooperation with all local, county, state, and national governmental bodies and developing closer liaison with local and state agencies and organizations with a supporting mission.
The Executive Director performs duties in an appropriate confidential capacity with a high degree of independence, exercising considerable judgment in representing SEDC and responding to inquiries or requests for assistance from potential clients, public, and private partners.
The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors and operates under their supervision and direction.
We seek candidates with:
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for business retention/expansion/attraction, as well as developing and promoting sustainable economic/community development activities.
- Skills in business development, outreach programs/services, and proposal/grant writing with considerable knowledge of economic/community development/small business banking practices; strong analytical skills; and the ability to make sound recommendations.
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Management experience, including leading small teams as well as budgetary experience.
- A knowledge of economic and community development financing programs or counseling/technical assistance a plus.
