About the Unit
The Fuller unit is a 55‑60 bed Post‑Surgical and Trauma Unit with approximately 160 employees. The average patient census is 34‑38, focused on adult post‑surgical (total knee and hip replacement), telemetry, stroke, and general medical. The unit offers an outstanding supportive environment and advanced training for staff. Elliot Hospital is designated as an Orthopaedic Center of Excellence.
About the JobUnder the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the RN delivers care to patients and families with needs ranging from basic to complex, utilizing the nursing process. The RN creates a therapeutic and caring environment for patients and families and practices in a manner consistent with the Elliot Hospital Interprofessional Practice model, the ANA’s Social Policy Statement, Scope and Standards of Practice, and the Nursing Code of Ethics.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Embrace and promote change to support optimal patient outcomes and an effective professional practice environment.
- Involve patients/families in goal setting and planning, and communicate that plan of care to patients and families for input, and to colleagues to ensure seamless care across shifts and settings.
- Utilize current evidence and relevant national/specialty standards to guide practice and/or performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Demonstrate competent clinical practice utilizing clinical decision making and critical thinking skills.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. ASN required with active enrollment in a BSN program (signed BSN commitment form needed). BSN preferred.
- Graduate Nurse status is designated for those individuals who hold temporary licensure to practice under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This status is maintained from date of hire until the issuance of a permanent license by the New Hampshire Board of Nursing.
- Ability to obtain BCLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment.
- Nurses are expected to pursue professional certification upon eligibility or within three years of entering the specialty practice.
- Ability to advance basic computer skills as the health system adds new systems or performs upgrades to existing systems.
