To supervise and perform skilled communication systems technician work involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of NH DOT radio transmitting and receiving equipment.

• Education/
  
  Experience:
  
  Equivalent combination of 2.5 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Must be in radio engineering, installation or maintenance, electronics, communications, or related fields.
• License/Certification: Valid driver's license.
• Applicants’ Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.
• Applicants are subject to a New Hampshire criminal record background check.

• Technical certificate in telecommunications, electronics, radio communications, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of radio frequency (RF) principles and telecommunications standards.
• Knowledge of safety protocols related to tower work and electrical systems.
• Good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Effective communication and documentation abilities.

• Participate in and supervise removal, installation, repair, calibration, and testing of mobile radio equipment in NH DOT vehicles and related assets to ensure reliable statewide intra-DOT mobile voice communications.
• Install mountain‑top radio repeater stations, conduct site surveys and selections, recommend and order appropriate materials and components, oversee tower installation, and perform testing to optimize system performance and coverage.
• Perform recalibration and preventive maintenance on mountain‑top repeater stations (excluding receiver/transmitter units) to ensure station reliability, longevity, and optimal operation.
• Operate and analyze test instruments such as bird watt meters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators to diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine necessary repairs.
• Maintain accurate inventories and records of all NH DOT radio equipment, ensuring accountability and precise tracking of equipment locations.
• Develop and manage vehicle radio removal and installation schedules in coordination with all NH DOT agencies to ensure efficient, timely, and coordinated radio system upgrades and maintenance.
