Overview

Fire Sprinkler Foreman installs sprinkler heads, valves, steel and CPVC pipe in newly constructed structures and renovations with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Cut, fabricate and install steel pipe and CPVC pipe as designed for the fire sprinkler system.
  • Install and hang pipe, sprinkler heads, fittings, hangers and other fire protection components in accordance with blueprints and construction documents.
  • Install and trim a variety of valves for wet, dry, and pre-action fire protection systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to ensure the sprinkler system is constructed as designed.
  • Ensure project close-out documents are completed as needed, such as test papers, red line drawings, owner training, signed extra work orders, etc.
  • Attend job meetings and coordinate schedules with general contractor (GC) and other contractors.
  • Ensure project timelines are met and all required documentation is submitted in a timely manner so projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Report scheduling delays, personnel issues, safety concerns to the direct supervisor.
  • Coordinate and manage all assigned projects with the superintendent, GC and employees.
  • Maintain professional communication with vendors and contractors.
  • Complete daily progress reports, including accidents, design changes due to field conditions, proposed changes in scope and conflicts with design related to existing conditions.
  • Ensure materials for a job are ordered and available on site; store materials safely in designated locations.
  • Maintain company-provided vehicle in a clean and well-maintained condition per company policies.
  • Keep work areas clean, safe, and orderly during and at the end of each workday.
  • Inspect and service required tools in accordance with company policies.
  • Secure and account for all tools, equipment, and supplies on the job site prior to the end of the workday.
  • Report progress and job-related problems to the superintendent or GC on a daily basis.
  • Train Sprinkler Fitters and Sprinkler Apprentices on all aspects of their job.
  • Understand and follow the company Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous Communication program, policies and procedures. Participate in weekly toolbox talks.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications

The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully. An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications and experience may meet the requirements.

Education, Training, Certifications
  • HS Diploma or equivalent, required.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills
  • 5-10 years’ experience installing fire sprinkler systems, required.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team. Construction experience, basic math, mechanical aptitude, problem solving, customer service, decision making, multitasking, ability to meet project schedules, planning and organizing, troubleshooting, and ability to train others is required.
Communication
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English with employees and customers.
Systems and Software
  • Ability to operate a computer or tablet and read electronic blueprints. Experience with Salesforce and Microsoft Office is preferred.
Other Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to comply with company Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements, including customer-specific requirements based on contractual agreements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, ascend and descend stairs, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods. The employee must be able to see at various distances and adjust focus. The employee may occasionally balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift over 50 lbs, sit, stoop, twist and work at heights.

Frequent local travel and occasional regional travel are required. The employee will work inside and outside in hot/cold temperatures and be exposed to loud noises, cramped quarters, dust, fumes and odors, standing on hard surfaces, and electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to chemicals, moving machinery, uneven and slippery surfaces. Always wear all required personal protective equipment as per safety policies.
