The State of New Hampshire, Department of Natural and Cultural Resources Division of Forest & Lands has a full-time vacancy for our Lancaster, NH office location for an auto mechanic/bldg & grounds person.
SummaryTo perform a variety of custodial and maintenance duties for vehicles, equipment, buildings, and grounds at facilities under the jurisdiction of the Division of Forests and Lands.
Responsibilities- Carries out simple maintenance and repairs in masonry, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing disciplines to keep Division facilities and grounds operational.
- Conducts general custodial duties in and around Division facilities but not limited to trash removal, cleaning of restroom and kitchen facilities, and litter pick up to maintain buildings and property.
- Conducts basic vehicle maintenance and repairs on state vehicles such as brakes, oil changes, and tire mounting and balancing.
- Maintains lawns and landscape at Division facilities including mowing, trimming, fertilizing, raking, weeding, and watering to ensure a pleasing environment.
- Removes snow and ice from all walks and driveways to ensure access and public safety to property and buildings throughout the winter season.
- Opens/closes buildings/gates to provide access and security.
- Operates and maintains state vehicles, snowplow, tractors, and landscape maintenance equipment.
- Plants trees and shrubs and identifies hazardous trees as necessary throughout the property to establish and maintain the landscape.
- Transport and operate equipment to maintain roads, gates, and other Division facilities separate from the headquarters area.
Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
Minimum QualificationsEducation/
Experience:
Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in carpentry, electricity, painting, plumbing, masonry, sheet metal work, welding, auto repair or related trade.
License/Certification:
Valid driver’s license
