MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

$25.40/hour - $34.14/hour

This position receives Hazardous Duty Pay, which is paid biweekly at $60 (not included in salary above).

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Corrections, Division of Administration - Logistics has a full-time vacancy for Maintenance Technician.

Supervises and performs the technical maintenance, repair, installation, and calibration of HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and related equipment in a prison environment, working in close and immediate contact with prisoners on a daily basis, having responsibility for security.

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Education/

Experience:

Equivalent combination of 5 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in the operation and maintenance of the mechanical and electrical equipment used in buildings, with at least 2 years’ of supervisory experience.

• Valid driver’s license or have access to transportation for statewide travel.
• Must have a State of NH Gas Fitters license.

Must Pass security and background screenings required for correctional environments.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of 4+ years of relevant education and experience with at least 1+ year of supervisory experience after completion of high school may be considered and hired in ‘trainee status’ for this position.

• Successful completion of the Corrections Academy within 12 months of hire and continuing certification as correctional line personnel as established by the certifying authority.
• Successful completion of HVAC refrigerant certification within 12 months of hire.
• Must be available for on-call through rotating schedule for off hour’s coverage to respond to emergencies and requests for timely assistance, in accordance with departmental policy.
• Must be willing to work an extended and/or flexible schedule, to include nights and weekends for emergency response to needs at the facilities. May be required to report for work with little notice due to emergencies.
