Job SummaryProvide instruction to students in the diverse areas of welding, i.e. FCAW, MIG, TIG, Stick, brazing, flame cutting and plastic welding, hand and semi-automatic and automatic welding processes. Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to prepare students to apply technical knowledge and skills in an entry-level position or apprenticeship. Assess the instructional requirements of students and provide orientation and instruction in welding technology career and technical education related competencies.
Ensure that industry standards are incorporated into the educational program. Provide training in the proper use of tools and equipment related to the welding industry; instruct students in all related safety procedures and industry protocols. Responsibilities include creating and teaching courses in your area of subject matter expertise. Class schedules may include day, evening or weekends.
Minimum AS or AAS degree or industry relevant certification(s) such as journeyman or AWS credentials, with a strong work history and demonstrated subject matter expertise. Professional designations or certifications in subject matter desired.
Qualifications – Experience- 2+ years of full-time, paid journeyman level experience as a welder.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of current industry practice.
- Experience delivering training/teaching to adult learners (including corporate training).
- AWS Certification preferred.
- Prefer prior post-secondary classroom teaching experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
