Anticipated Pay Range: $80k-$115k per year.
* Pay rates within this range are determined based on various factors including experience, education, certifications, etc.

JOB SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for programmatically leading the design, construction, installation, and lifecycle management of capital equipment and manufacturing systems within approved budget, schedule, and safety constraints. This role provides engineering support to manufacturing and maintenance while planning, executing, and sustaining multi-project initiatives that improve manufacturing performance, asset reliability, and facility capability. The position drives continuous improvement through structured project execution, stakeholder alignment, risk management, and data-driven decision making, while maintaining and upgrading facilities and equipment to support current and future business needs.
Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of Howmet's EHS values, policies, and principles across all engineering programs and projects.
- Ensure all assigned projects and programs comply with department, facility, Corporate, and Regulatory EH&S requirements.
- Incorporate safety, ergonomics, and environmental considerations into equipment design, project plans, and risk assessments.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Report all job-related illnesses and injuries per employee handbook.
- Escalate safety, health, and environmental concerns in a timely manner.
- Attend and support all required EH&S training.
- Systems thinker - views manufacturing, equipment, people, and processes as an integrated system; evaluates upstream and downstream impacts of engineering decisions; plans scalable, sustainable interventions.
- Program optimizer - challenges the organization to work smarter by aligning projects to business priorities, resource capacity, and measurable outcomes.
- Anticipation and risk management - proactively identifies technical, schedule, cost, and operational risks; develops mitigation plans and prepares stakeholders for upcoming changes.
- Operational accelerator - leads continuous improvement initiatives and capital programs; evaluates automation and technology investments with a focus on safety, throughput, and long-term value.
- Organization and structure - establishes and improves standard project execution processes, documentation, and governance; provides accurate status, forecasts, and performance metrics.
- Influence and stakeholder leadership - drives alignment and buy-in across operations, maintenance, EHS, supply chain, and leadership; communicates tradeoffs and recommendations using data and engineering judgment.
- Data-informed decision maker - defines success metrics, tracks performance, and adjusts execution based on quantitative feedback and root-cause analysis.
- Prioritized execution - manages competing priorities and unplanned events while maintaining focus on critical program objectives.
- Relationship builder - partners across shifts and functions; serves as a liaison between the shop floor and engineering; maintains awareness of operational realities and workforce needs.
- Design, construct, and install new capital equipment as part of planned engineering programs and capital portfolios.
- Lead engineering projects and programs, including scope definition, business case development, cost justification, schedule planning, risk assessment, execution, and post-implementation review.
- Coordinate cross-functional resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with operational requirements.
- Provide engineering support to manufacturing to resolve equipment and process issues, prioritizing actions based on safety, throughput, and business impact.
- Evaluate and recommend new manufacturing methods, automation, and equipment to reduce scrap, improve productivity, and support long-term capacity plans.
- Improve equipment availability and reliability through data analysis, structured problem solving, and programmatic corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain standard work, operating procedures, and technical documentation for manufacturing and maintenance.
