Bandsaw​/Waterjet Technician

This person is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC waterjet cutting systems and industrial bandsaws to produce high-quality parts from various materials (metals, plastics, composites). The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, can read blueprints with ease, and maintains a "safety-first" mindset. They will assist with the operation of equipment, tooling maintenance, and will ensure that all required processes are completed to produce parts.

This position is located at Picatinny Arsenal.

• Machine Operation:
  Set up and operate CNC waterjet machines and horizontal/vertical bandsaws.
• Material Handling:
  Load and unload raw materials (plates, bars, tubes) using forklifts or overhead cranes.
• Programming & Adjustments:
  Select appropriate cutting parameters, load CNC programs, and make minor offset adjustments to ensure part accuracy.
• Quality Control:
  Perform first‑article inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure parts meet blueprint specifications.
• Maintenance:
  Perform routine daily maintenance (e.g., nozzle changes, garnet refills, blade tensioning) and keep the workspace clean.
• Documentation:
  Track material usage and log completed jobs in the shop management system.
• Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Maintain a clean work area and ensure safe operations of all equipment.

• Must be able to obtain a clearance through the DoD security background investigation process.
• Pass drug and alcohol testing.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• 1–3 years of experience operating CNC machinery (waterjet experience preferred; OMAX, Flow, etc. are a plus).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Proficient in basic shop math and understanding of tolerances.
• Physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong attendance record and a proactive attitude toward problem‑solving.
• Team player, able to multitask and prioritize accordingly.
• Basic PC knowledge (MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a government driver’s license.
• High school diploma required; a college degree is not required but beneficial.
