Position: Production Worker (Advanced Manufacturing Workcell - 3rd Shift)

Job Summary

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking for an Advanced Manufacturing Workcell Operator to join our Dover Casting group in Dover, New Jersey. The role will support production of complex turbine airfoils and other components, operating CNCs, water jets, grinders, vibratory equipment, and more.

Work hours for the Afternoon Shift: Monday–Friday 3 PM–11 PM. Training will be on the 1st Shift Monday–Friday 7 AM–3 PM.

Starting hourly rate: $25.66; after 12 months: $28.31. The position also receives a shift premium while assigned to an off‑shift.

Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities
  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Alcoa/Howmet's EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.
  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Report all job‑related illness and injuries (per employee handbook).
  • Report all safety, health & environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EHS training.
Position Overview / Essential Job Functions
  • Must run water jets; 4/5 axis CNCs; rise and fall grinders, super polish.
  • Properly load/set up tooling (fixtures) and load castings into 6‑point nests and verify fitment.
  • Setting up and operating vibratory equipment.
  • Utilize a profilometer to inspect surface finish per job instruction.
  • Sieve media per activity instruction to maintain optimal quality.
  • Perform 100% inspection as required per job instruction.
  • Properly set tools (end mills).
  • Identify fixture wear, tooling wear.
  • Follow product criteria to ensure quality castings.
  • Properly react to non‑conforming castings by adjusting feed rates, speeds, offsets.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility required at hire; visa sponsorship not available.
  • Position entails access to export‑controlled items; offers are conditioned upon the applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
  • No relocation benefit is offered; candidates must reside within a 50‑mile radius of Dover, NJ.

Preferred Knowledge

  • Ability to read product blueprints.
  • Experience working with CNCs.
  • Experience milling high‑performance super alloys.
  • 1–3 years in an engineering or manufacturing environment with hands‑on experience evaluating automated equipment and processes and solving automated equipment issues.

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with TPM.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • PC literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
  • Experience using industrial controllers.
  • Methodical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment and related issues.
  • Organized with discipline to solve problems with permanent solutions.
