Job Summary
Four Step Cell Operator at Howmet Casting located in Dover, New Jersey. Midnight Shift: Sunday Night – Thursday Night 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM. Training occurs on Day Shift (M‑F 7:00‑15:00). Starting hourly rate $25.00, rising to $27.71 after 12 months, with a shift premium while assigned to an off‑shift. Responsibilities- Perform full inspection of parts as outlined in work instructions or customer specifications, maintaining ultrasonic tapping per customer requirements.
- Execute visual inspections, buffing, stoning, belting and other finishing operations to remove visual imperfections.
- Operate sandblasting, tumbling, vibratory or REM equipment to clean metal castings of scale, foreign material and discoloration, producing a smooth surface.
- Conduct 100% visual inspection per product criteria or customer specifics.
- Highlight problem indications to supervision for consideration.
- Maintain production counts and other required records.
- Dispose of non‑conforming products within the scope of the job description.
- Verify that routers and tools are correct before starting work.
- Maintain the work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
- Assist in implementing Howmet Aerospace’s EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.
- Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Report all job‑related illnesses and injuries per employee handbook.
- Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
- Attend all EHS training sessions.
Position requires the ability to perform mechanical and inspection tasks, as well as computer operation and communication with a team. Work includes flexible hours, often with little advanced notice.
Other Skills/Abilities- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Capacity to complete training and achieve certification in final inspection.
- Tendency to work effectively in a team‑based environment.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Position involves access to export‑controlled items; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and obtain access to such items.
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Acceptance of the location requirement: candidates must reside within a 50‑mile radius of Dover, NJ; no relocation benefit is offered.
- One year of metal finishing experience.
