Position: Production Worker (XRAY Inspector- 3rd shift)

Howmet Dover Alloy is a world-class supplier of vacuum and air-melted nickel- and cobalt-based superalloys to aerospace, gas turbine, medical and other high-technology industrial markets.

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking for an XRAY Inspector to join our Dover Casting group in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this Midnight Shift are Sunday Night – Thursday Night 10:30 PM‑6:30 AM. Training will be on 1st shift Monday to Friday 6:30 A – 2:30 A for several months. New Hire Starting Hourly Rate: $25.66

Position Overview

Entry-level is a Level 1 trainee until the successful completion of the Level I certification requirements. Level 1 operates x‑ray equipment to take x‑rays of metal castings. Level 2 operates x‑ray equipment to take x‑rays of castings and interprets film and/or digital image to customer specifications.

Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of Howmet’s EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.
  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EH&S regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries per employee handbook.
  • Report all safety, health & environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EH&S training.
Interpersonal Responsibilities

This position has frequent internal contact with Engineering and Quality.

Essential Job Functions – Xray Operator Level I
  • Pass RT Level 1 exams (practical, general, and specific) with a composite score of not less than 80 %.
  • Set up and operate 320 KV, 450 KV, MEV, and digital X‑ray units to x‑ray metal castings for internal defects according to customer requirements.
  • Load film cassettes, process and sort film.
  • Operate densitometers to verify film densities.
  • Complete records as required for the process, NADCAP requirements, etc.
  • Read and follow techniques.
  • Develop skills and train as Level II Inspector as determined by competency and company need.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervision.
Essential Job Functions – Xray Inspector Level II
  • Pass RT Level II exams (practical, general, and specific) with a composite score of not less than 80 %.
  • Maintain Level I certification.
  • View extra-sensitivity (1 %) and sensitive (2 %) x‑ray film, n‑ray film, and digital images to determine if castings are free of internal defects per customer requirements.
  • Locate defects on actual castings from x‑ray film indications and mark locations for weld repair or mechanical repair (e.g., core break, fins) in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Determine if any repairs or rework is necessary.
  • Complete inspection records as required for the process, NADCAP requirements, etc.
  • Maintain 98 % reliability from surveillance audits.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervision.
