Position: Production Worker (NDT Utility Worker Weekend Nights shift)

NDT Utility

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking for an NDT Utility to join our Dover Casting group in Dover, New Jersey. The working hours for this position are weekend nights from Friday to Sunday, 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM. Training will occur on day shift (Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM) and can last several months. New hire starting hourly rate is $25.66;

after 12 months, it increases to $28.31. This position will receive an hourly shift premium while assigned to an off-shift. Job Responsibilities

Essential job functions include:

  • CMM operations:
    Operates jobs on CMM machines, run programs, interpret results, verify calibrations, maintain quality records, problem solving skills, operate hand tools for rework, stage incoming queues.
  • Weld operations:
    Operate hand tools for weld prep and blend, use boroscope for internal inspection.
  • FPI operations:
    Certified Level 1 duties, dispatch, assist on the line, load incoming FPI queues.
  • X-Ray operations:
    Level 1 duties, process exposed film, load/unload cassettes, sort processed film, inspect film densities, perform basic TPM and maintenance activities.
  • Pack operations:
    Verify castings, perform marking operations, package marked castings, set up x-ray department, operate airflow testing equipment.
  • Submit to and pass visual acuity test, written and oral certification examination.
  • Train in other areas of the plant as needed.
  • Maintain work area, follow safety rules, achieve 98% reliability from audits.

Basic qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility required a sponsorship not available.
  • Access to export-controlled items; employment offers conditioned upon lawful access.
  • No relocation benefit offered. Candidates within 50 miles of Dover, NJ only considered.
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends with little advanced notice.
  • Basic math skills (add/subtract/multiply/divide).
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Physical Demands/Equipment Used

Equipment used includes CMM machines, various hand tools, blast cabinet, borescope, spray guns, black lights, ovens, wash machines, processors, reading lights, marking units, and computers. Frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting of up to 25lbs. Frequent walking and standing.
