Production Worker; Refractory Team Member - 2nd Shift

Responsibilities

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking for a Refractory Team Member to join the Howmet Alloy located in Dover, New Jersey.

Work hours:

Monday – Friday 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm (Afternoon Shift). Training on the 1st shift (6 am – 2:30 pm).

Hourly rate: $25.66 for new hires, $28.31 after 12 months. Shift premium applies for off‑shift assignments.

Job Summary:

The refractory team member is responsible for performing all phases of building, bricking, lining, ramming and repairing of all melt equipment containing refractory linings.

• Assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace's EHS values and policies.
• Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EH&S regulations.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment.
• Report illnesses, injuries and safety concerns promptly.
• Attend all EH&S training.

• Set, operate and monitor preheat torches.
• Maintain inventory of tapping blocks and furnace materials.
• Assemble tapping blocks with prescribed filter configuration according to melt schedule.
• Coordinate with Melt Team and Production Planning on inventories and bricking requirements.
• Assist Melt Team with furnace or spout changes if required.
• Remove old refractory and install new refractory in vacuum coils.
• Remove old refractory and install new refractory in AOD vessels.
• Keep work area clean and orderly.

• Position provides access to export‑controlled items; applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States (visa sponsorship not available).
• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• No relocation assistance; candidates must reside within 50 miles of Dover, NJ.

• Effective verbal and written communication in English.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends with little notice.

• Use of refractory saws, cranes, curing torches, computers, hand and pneumatic tools, and forklifts.
• Large amounts of time spent in confined spaces.
• Must read and understand digital and analog scales, gauges, and other measuring devices.
