This position is located onsite at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey.
Job Overview
The QC/Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting the QC/Safety Manager in the development and implementation of Quality/Safety Training and Compliance Programs, Facility Inspections, technical assistance, complaint resolution, incident investigations Safety and Quality training and special projects as assigned.
- Work hours are subject to change with evening and/or weekend work as needed.
- Work may entail (included but not limited) heights, in proximity to heavy equipment, demolition and constructions hazards, dust, mold, elevated noise levels and maybe performed indoors and outdoors.
- Responsible for Quality and Safety compliance issues as they apply to operation of the contract.
Essential Job Duties:
- Assists the Safety Manager to develop/update/implement all safety/QC procedures and programs. May include (but limited to): safe lifting, accident avoidance, confined space entry, fall protection, PPE, hot work, fire protection, workplace safety/QC inspections, accident investigations, HAZCOM, SDS safety, excavation safety, Fall Prevention, BBP Exposure Control, personnel/material sampling-use of direct read monitoring instrumentation, heavy equipment/forklift/crane/Manlift/Confined Space safe operations, electrical safety, Business Contingency Planning, Spill Prevention, Stormwater systems and other OSHA/Environmental/QC safety compliance plans.
Handles Physical security checks of CCSL Buildings at the end of each day. - Conducts continuous improvement activities included but not limited to corrective and preventative actions, development/delivery of Monthly and specialty training programs designed to meet Quality & Safety Plans.
- Identifies and evaluates non-conforming project work, services and recommends corrective actions. Possess knowledge of generally accepted standards of workmanship in a construction/maintenance environment.
- Coordinates programs for Environmental, Biological, Chemical and Hazardous Waste Safety Management.
Responds to emergency situations involving injuries, property damage, hazardous materials, fire and smoke incidents, etc.; prepares detailed reports of findings, corrective actions and recommendations. - Works to fulfil the requirement of the Chugach Safety and Quality programs and corresponding plans, including facilitating accident prevention programs, evacuation procedures and Safety/QC reporting.
- Trains employees in safety and quality control procedures/regulations and best practices while providing guidance and assistance as necessary.
- Investigates and reports on all accidents, injuries, "Near-Misses/Good Catches", and hazardous situations as required using risk assessment techniques.
- Prepares and updates quality control checklists and self-inspection checklists.
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled inspections of facilities and equipment; ensures compliance with approved safety practices and regulations, OSHA standards and federal, state and local safety regulations.
- Conducts follow-up inspections to ensure timely corrective actions to correct noted deficiencies.
- Performs strict safety surveillance and corrects breaches of Safety and Quality codes on the spot.
- Initiates discrepancy reports and conducts required follow-up inspections, responds to OSHA citations.
- Designs and manages department database/worksheets/reports/tables/charts.
- Provides technical assistance on Safety/Occupational Health and Quality Control problems/violations and complaints to facilitate corrective actions.
- Works with a broad variety of professional and craft personnel in extremely complex project management situations.
