Position: Quality Technician (3rd Shift)

Job Summary

Quality Technician in Howmet Casting located in Dover, New Jersey. This role supports quality, engineering, and manufacturing by developing and monitoring the quality management system and assuring compliance with customer requirements.

Shift: Midnight Shift 11:30 PM–8 AM, with training on the first day 8 AM–4:30 PM.

Compensation: $26–$30 per hour, dependent on experience, education, certifications, etc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a Quality Assurance resource in manufacturing to ensure products meet customer requirements (visual inspection, data collection, gauge operation, wafer pattern review, etc.).
  • Understand and interpret product criteria, activity instructions, and business operating procedures; participate in revisions.
  • Obtain certification to self‑release shipments and act as a designated supplier quality representative; perform shipment audits, assemble documentation, and issue certificates of conformance.
  • Become a qualified internal auditor; conduct audits to verify processes and systems are in control and meet AS9100 requirements.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to solve problems and address quality issues, including scrap, rework, and customer returns.
  • Perform activities related to the non‑conforming material control process and comply with area process flow.
  • Handle scrap material and track met‑cut‑up samples per customer audit requirements.
  • Operate a mobile cart during shift to move product as needed.
  • Assist with document control, change management, and supplier quality as required.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Job Specifications
  • Frequent internal contact with management, manufacturing, sales, and engineering.
  • Frequent external contact with customers; strong communication skills required.
Physical Demands
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Push/pull a mobile cart during shift.
  • Flexibility to work in different areas or locations throughout the plant.
Basic Qualifications
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to lawfully obtain access to export‑controlled items.
  • Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Dover, NJ; no relocation benefit offered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2‑year Associate’s Degree or equivalent related experience.
  • Knowledge of AS9100.
  • Experience with quality tools used for root‑cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Proficient computer skills: word processing, email, spreadsheets, electronic presentations.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to observe, receive, and obtain information from all relevant sources.
  • Inspecting materials to identify causes of errors or defects; evaluate quality.
  • Read work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or material requirements.
