Job Summary

Sales Consultant – La‑Z‑Boy Furniture Galleries (

Location:

Dover, NJ). Compensation includes a base salary plus unlimited commission. Requires a high‑energy, customer‑centric sales performance in a luxury furnishings environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to store sales goals by selling furniture, accessories, and services.
  • Promote the Design program and assist the Designer to achieve design program sales goals.
  • Consistently execute the La‑Z‑Boy selling process and provide a favorable customer experience.
  • Develop and utilize sales skills such as approach, rapport building, needs discovery, customized portfolio presentations, answering objections, closing, follow‑up, after‑sale service, and ongoing contact.
  • Maximize store promotions, marketing initiatives, and grassroots programs.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of product features and benefits.
  • Schedule professional home consultations to present customized room designs, sample fabrics, furniture, tables, and accessory recommendations.
  • Execute and champion the Design process following company guidelines.
  • Support design‑related functions in the store.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service, including use of Podium for follow‑up.
  • Handle customer issues and complaints, providing appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all store employees.
  • Assist in training, coaching, and development of new peers on product knowledge and selling process.
  • Assist with visual appearance of store, maintain displays, tagging, catalogs, design center fabrics, floor moves, and overall cleanliness.
  • Accurately complete order information, collect deposits and fees, keep customer records, and manage payments and deliveries.
  • Complete daily On‑Point system logs.
  • Show enthusiasm, urgency, and excitement with store team and customers.
  • Schedule deliveries and manage opening/closing of store.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous selling experience; ability to close a sale strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport and influencing.
  • Demonstrated persuasion and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage time and conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work schedule set by business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Initiative to meet assigned goals.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.

Pay Structure
  • Training Pay: $16 per hour for 2–6 weeks.
  • Base Pay: $13 per hour (location varies).
  • Commission:
    Unlimited on sales, 3% on Design sales, 2% on other sales.
  • Quarterly bonus opportunity: $1,500 based on meeting individual sales goals.
  • Average Annual Earning Potential After Training: $45,000–$65,000+ (base, bonus, commission).
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Use of repetitive hand motions, hearing, and listening.
  • Ability to sit, walk, bend, and stoop as required.
  • Indoor environmental conditions.
  • Background and drug screen clearance required.
