Position Overview

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking for an Electrician A to join our Dover Casting group in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this Afternoon position are Monday – Friday (2:30 p‑m – 11:00 p‑m). Training 1st Shift (M‑F 6:30 a‑m – 3:00 p‑m). Starting hourly rate: $38.04; rate after 12 months: $40.73. Position will receive an hourly “shift premium” while assigned to an off‑shift.

$5,000 Sign‑on Bonus payable after 90 days of employment (Sign‑on Bonus for external candidates only).

Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of EHS values and policy statements and accompanying principles.
  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report all job‑related illness and injuries (per Employee Handbook).
  • Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EHS training.
Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain and install electrical systems and equipment as specified by supervision or senior electrician; such as motors, transformers, wiring, switches, heaters, alarm systems, etc.
  • Inspect circuits and wiring for specified shielding and grounding and repair or rewire systems according to building codes and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in preventive maintenance of all electrical equipment in the plant.
  • Possess some knowledge of programmable controllers and associated equipment.
  • Assist in the training of equal or less senior electricians.
  • May be requested to perform minor mechanical maintenance functions when necessary.
  • Must properly complete and abide by all safety procedures and training classes provided as standard to all maintenance colleagues within the department.
  • Apply knowledge of the plant power and light systems to locate and evaluate electrical malfunctions and repairs by such methods as replacing burnt‑out elements and fuses, bypassing or replacing defective wiring, cleaning and adjusting contact points, etc.
Other Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to read simple ladder logic.
  • Ability to read a variety of blueprints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC inputs/outputs and analog signals.
  • Ability to set up VFDs and troubleshoot alarm codes.
  • Familiar with HMI computers.
  • Familiar in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable with troubleshooting high‑voltage equipment (600 V).
Physical Demands / Equipment Used
  • Requires lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis from waist to knuckle level.
  • Requires lifting up to 70 lbs on an occasional basis from floor to waist height.
  • Weights over 70 lbs require the use of assistive devices and/or second‑person assist.
  • Push/pull forces of up to 200 lbs involving tools, parts and other service requirements.
  • Use of a facepiece respirator requires a clean shaven face where the facepiece meets the face.
  • Equipment:
    Simpson VOM, recording ammeters, small hand tools, megger, conduit bender, computer, hand‑type ammeters, and voltmeters.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • Access to export‑controlled items; employment offers are conditioned upon the applicant’s ability to lawfully obtain access.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • No relocation benefit is offered. Candidates residing within 50 miles of Dover, NJ will only be considered.
  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment in an electrician role.
