Accountant - Residential Construction & Development

OverviewA well‑established residential construction and development organization in the Chicagoland area is seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant to support their growing finance team. This is a hands‑on accounting role ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, project‑driven environment and wants exposure to both corporate and project accounting functions.
Responsibilities- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and on time
- Assist with month‑end close and reconciliations
- Prepare financial reports and support management with timely information
- Support job costing and tracking project financials
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company policies
- Collaborate with project managers and finance team to resolve accounting issues
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation as needed
- 5+ years of accounting experience, in construction, real estate, or related fields
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Proficiency in accounting software (Quick Books, Sage, Viewpoint, Timberline, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work across departments
- Knowledge of GAAP is a plus
